Senior Transportation Planner opportunity with Olsson in Kansas City, MO, focused on transportation work.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical leadership to produce and oversee transportation planning projects, which may include corridor studies, transportation master plans, active transportation plans, safety studies, transit planning, or related mobility initiatives.
- Serves as a technical specialist, applying advanced planning concepts and developing approaches to solve complexities.
- Leads or supports project management activities, including development and management of project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, deliverables, and client communications.
- Performs QA/QC and ensures delivery of completed reports, policies, and studies to meet quality standards and project objectives.
- Conducts research in areas of considerable scope and complexity.
Qualifications
- Works collaboratively to promote efficiencies and produce high-quality work.
- Contributes to the development of standards and/or guidelines for planning activities within the team.
- Mentors, supervises, and develops planning staff while supporting the growth and expansion of the transportation planning practice.
- Supervises and reviews technical assignments of less experienced staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, transportation planning, public policy, geography, political science, or a related area of study required.
- Master's degree in urban or regional planning, transportation planning, public administration, public policy, engineering, or a related discipline preferred
- Minimum of eight years of experience in planning with increasing responsibility, including experience leading complex projects or major project components.
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) preferred.
